Deposits may be made to an inmates account either in person or online, these deposits will allow inmates to make commissary purchases for food or other personal care items. A fee is charged for online deposits.

Mailing

Stamps as well as writing paper should not be sent to an inmate; these items are available for purchase from the commissary if needed.

As well as writing paper and stamps other items should not be sent to an inmate as they are deemed contraband and will prevent the delivery of your mail, these include but are not limited to; glue, glitter, foil, stickers, glossy paper, and music.

Inmates are only allowed to receive books or magazines that are sent to them directly from the publisher

Phone Calls

In-mates are able to make phone calls through the Telmate system that the Douglas County Detention Center uses. Calls through Telmate can either be prepaid calls; receiver has to accept charges, or the inmate is allowed a prepaid calling account, the costs for calls vary dependent on where call is being made to. Deposits will need to be made in this account to allow inmates to make calls; information on making deposits is available on the telmate website or by calling 800-516-0115.

Scheduling a visit

Visits to an inmate must be scheduled 24 hours in advance and person scheduling visit must be registered and possess a visitors ID#, a registered visitor may also take with them 2 other persons for a visit, notice of additional visitors must be made when visit is being scheduled. Arrangements may be made by calling 303-814-8045, or visiting the Automated Inmate Visitation System online. The amount of visitors an inmate is allowed as well as the length of visits is dependent on the status of the inmate.

A government issued ID is required for all visits. All electronic devices are strictly prohibited from the visiting area. All visits are recorded and these recordings may be used in a court of law.

Work Release

An inmate being granted alternative sentencing; such as Work release, is largely dependent on their criminal record as well as their ability to provide proof of employment. Despite being able to pass requirements and being approved by the court, the decision on whether work release privileges are granted is entirely at the discretion of the jail.

Inmates approved by the Douglas County Detention Facility for the work release program are subject to paying fees for being in the program; which ranges from $15-$80 depending on their income. A one-time activation fee will also be charged for the GPS tracking system that all work release inmates are subject to; inmates are strongly advised to adhere to the terms of their release as despite not being detained in a correctional facility they are still considered an inmate and therefore any deviation from the terms stipulated by work release agreement will have harsh repercussions that may likely cause them to serve sentence incarcerated.
